If you’ve read some of the background info on some of the other pages, you’ll know that I’m based in Royston and one of the things I offer is SEO services. I’m always happy to work with local Royston businesses to help them improve their SEO, for a number of reasons.
Smaller businesses often have more control over their SEO
I’ve done the “big agency in London” thing, and whilst there are some great SEO agencies out there, there are often different teams working on the various specialisms within SEO (such as content, technical SEO and linkbuilding). This isn’t inherently bad, but it can be frustrating if teams aren’t 100% joined up, or the management structure is such that they pull in different directions. Imagine you need some changes made to your site for SEO reasons, but your developers developers are busy implementing a feature and won’t have time to look at your request for months.
When working with smaller, local businesses, SEO doesn’t have to be put on the back burner by politics or bottlenecks, and progress can be made as long as you have a good SEO working on your site, especially one who can work on any area of SEO.
It’s more fun working on SEO with local businesses
A good SEO person can work on all aspects and often has free reign of the website to improve things. I love to work across all pillars of SEO, and that’s made possible when working with business owners and small teams that have retained control of their online presence without everything happening by committee or requiring a business case and multiple sign-off. As a result, I get to work on the technical side, the content, the outreach, and also the analytics and reporting. This is how I like it — that way everything is joined up, things stay varied and entertaining, and by having skin in the game and full responsibility of a client’s SEO, I find it more rewarding to see each win during an SEO engagement.
I live in Royston…
It’s great to work on SEO for business based in and around Royston and surrounding villages, because as a resident I can actually see how those brands conduct themselves, understand more about the context and customers around, and feel a sense of local pride in what I’m doing (I might only have lived in Royston since 2018 but I’ve been coming here since 2015 when I got married in Melbourn). The added benefit to me being local is I am always available for a face to face meeting, which I think is really important. I’ve seen too many agencies or clients outsource their SEO to other countries where there is a limited amount of understanding of the client’s context, and it’s all too easy to forget the personal side of providing SEO services.
